Prof. Yang Xu is an assistant professor in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering at HKU. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California (USC) and a B.S. degree from Beihang University. Before joining HKU, Prof. Xu was a postdoctoral research associate at UC Berkeley. His research focuses on innovative manufacturing technologies, aiming to revolutionize future product design and manufacturing processes. His current research thrusts include next-generation additive manufacturing, intelligent systems, and novel design approaches enabled by AM. Prof. Yang Xu has published his findings in prestigious journals, such as Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, and Additive Manufacturing. During his Ph.D. studies, he received the Best Paper Award at MSEC 2020 and the Best Ph.D. Dissertation Award in USC's Epstein Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. He was also a finalist for the William F. Ballhaus Jr. Prize for Excellence in Graduate Engineering Research.
